In his last race of the 1997 season, Donovan Bailey placed well at the invitational Toto Super International meet, but was less than enthusiastic about his performance.
Clocked at 10.18s, an acceptable time, Bailey placed second behind Frankie Fredericks of Nambia who crossed the finish line in 10.04s. Fredericks has been running quite well over the past couple of weeks.
On his performance, Bailey was quoted as saying, "Bad. I'll be back next year". Still running well, Bailey has not been running at par over the latter half of the season due mostly to injuries that have occurred lately.
Americans Tim Montgomery (10.20s) and Dennis Mitchell (10.27s) placed third and fourth.
